I said I never would wear those ugly garden shoes

Never say Never. Last year or whenever these crocs made an appearance, I said I never would wear those ugly garden shoes. I can remember Kim buying some in Denver when I was there for our convention and telling her , You may wear those ugly things but I never will. (She was also wearing my pet peeve of black shoes with white socks and even worse if you have on dark long pants with black shoes and white socks, drives me nuts, invest in some black socks please)

Well I have to eat my words. I was shopping at Dollar General , some may know it as Ghetto Dollar but I love the place and find all sorts of neat things for neat prices. (They even sell black socks, Kim) Anyway, enough of the Dollar General commercial. Well I was shopping in there and they had my size, which is rare I wear a women's 12, hey no laughing, I am tall and would look silly in an 8.5. I would be teeter tottering. Best of all they were only $6, so I said, I'll try them, they are not name brand but I am not a name brand girl. Let me tell you these shoes are sooo comfortable. I am even thinking about wearing them to our convention in two weeks in which I do alot of walking and am also considering going back to get more colors. My moral now, who cares what they look like but comfort is the key. So now call me the Croc Girl.

Simply, Beautiful Wedding

I went to a lovely simplistic wedding today. One of my long time friends from church was married today in a beautiful church wedding. Her only decorations were the tulle and some gardenias from a garden. Her bouquet and the bouquet of her attendants were simple but pretty. She wore a beautiful gown with a short train with some lovely beads. Her reception was simple yet eloquent. You may wonder why I choose to journal on such a simple wedding. Well it was nice to attend a wedding in which the marriage ceremony and the vows were still sacred. The day was about their union and the commitment they made to God and to each other. I walked away knowing they would be together forever. They kept in perspective who brought them together and who is Lord of their lives.

I don't know the groom that good but I know the bride very well and this wedding was so Dana. .....Simple, Spiritual, and Beautiful.

God Bless Their Marriage!

kids do the darndest things 3

I know what you are thinking, what did the munchkin do this time. Well, he was at the house this morning because it is the day that his mom and dad both work so he was waking me up at 7:45 am. Those of us without kids do not know what 7:45 am looks like considering I don't have to be at work until 10 am.

Well, I was getting ready and blow drying my hair and asked him to get my hairspray from the bathroom. He jumped at this opportunity so I should have known he was going to do something. He was gone for quite a few minutes when he returned with a dripping hairspray bottle and said " It was close to being empty so I decided to refill it for you with water." It was a sweet thought if only 3/4 water and 1/4 hairspray would actually work.

Needless to say I have flat hair today and need to go buy some more hairspray. My question is where does he get these ideas from!!!!!!!

Dennis the Menace strikes again....more episodes coming soon, I am sure of that.

Kids do the darndest things 2

Another day in the life of me and my nephew.

I have been looking forward to tomorrow morning for a few weeks now. It is my day off and I get to sleep in, yay! Nothing unusual you may say , but for the past few weeks my day off has been a day that my nephew is here and he wakes up bright and early. So I was cherishing tomorrow alot.

Well I brought him over this evening for a few moments and he was playing outside while I was talking to an old friend outside when I heard something weird. Well the weirdness was him dumping the whole big bag of bird seed in the middle of the front lawn.

So what does that mean for me. It means those beautiful birds God created will be chirping in my front yard in which my bedroom is in the front and I will be quite frustrated because I will be up early once again because the early bird gets the worm or in this case the bird seed, right. I think I will rename my nephew, Dennis the Menace.

UPDATE! I have moved my car over the bird seed dump site in hopes that the birds cant get to it at least until I have been able to enjoy my sleep-in morning but then again that may back-fire and I may need a good car wash tomorrow.

How far is too far!!!!

Working in retail you are taught to go above and beyond to help your customer but how far is too far. Today a customer came in looking for a mat that kids can play on that has a tic-tac-toe board. Well my business is a Christian bookstore, we have plenty of Christian teaching aids but not everyday educational and play things. I was nice and told her about an educational store within a few miles. She complained that it was too far to drive and not know if they had it. I voluntarily went and found her the number and an ad with a coupon attached. She then asked me to call them. I thought , hmmh, ok, I don't need it and I was just nice enough to find the information for you and now you want me to call about something I have nothing to do with . I thought quick and said well you know what I will dial the number for you on our phone and then you can talk to them since it is what you need. She said, that's fair. FAIR!!! I was just being nice it was not a job requirement. Well the store was out of what she wanted. She told me and I thought , hmmh can you take a sheet and spray paint it. Can you guess what she asked me next.... oh come on , you know.......

CAN YOU DO THAT FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So,is that too far? Do something that has absolutely nothing to do  with me or my business. I thought finding the number and letting her use the phone was great customer service. I could have just told her we didn't carry such a thing and go on about my business and not offer the other store or suggestions.  Now if it were someone who I thought was not capable of  doing such a thing I would have considered it as a ministry but she was in great condition to do it but just didn't want to.

Is America getting that lazy that they can do nothing for themselves now?

America wake up and stop expecting something for nothing .

Ventures of mexican eating with my nephew

We went out to eat at local Mexican restaurant this evening. There were six of us including my dear sweet almost four year old nephew. My BIL and I were at one end across from each other which allowed the munchkin to wander between a few seats. Everyone had ordered and my nephew had a kids taco meal which he was barely eating while he ventured around the table and investigated everyone else's food. My BIL tells him to go back to his seat and eat his taco at the same time the waitress came to refill my water. My nephew and the waitress start some kind of conversation in which I nor my BIL could understand so we are smiling and being polite. We hear my nephew say two words we could understand soft and beef. She walks away and he blurts out I'm getting beef. We said "yeah your taco is beef" thinking he was just talking about his taco he was eating and before we know it the waitress comes out with another soft beef taco. Now please explain to me how this little four year old was able to order another beef taco and we couldn't get her to understand that my mom and I were splitting the Fajitas for two. I started laughing so hard I was choking at this four year old ordering a taco and the two adults closest to him being clueless as to what was transpiring. Needless to say whenever the waitress returned we covered my nephew's mouth because we might have had something bigger like a mexican steak dinner on the way.

And to think.... I took four years of Spanish and still didn't understand what the waitress and him were talking about. Sad, sad, sad.

Back to Getting FIt

Well I have had some encouragement from several people to get back on track with working out and eating right. I worked out Monday and Tuesday night and was thinking of resting on Wednesday night because my back was stiff and achy from doing the simple act of bending over in a weird way, I can't explain it. I was picking up a piece of fabric off the floor and I heard a minor snap and now my back hurts.... Anyway, I was resting Wednesday night and was watching TLC when the show came on about the 627 pound woman that was having gastric bypass surgery. Let me just say it didn't take but a few minutes for me to get up , get dressed and go to the Y. I did a minor workout and did the FitLinx. I was proud of myself for going and my back actually felt better after the elliptical, I know that is shocking.

Watching that program really made me think about how anyone can allow that to happen and determined for it not to happen to me. I am not downing the woman because I know people turn to food for comfort but I look at her as motivation and hope I can be an inspiration to others and remind myself that my body is God's Temple.

****Note to readers who don't know me, I am no where close to 627 and hope through prayer, support, determination and the Grace of God I never will be.

Strange Questions People Ask

Have you ever really thought about some of the questions people ask?

This past weekend I had the wonderful experience of going to BG. ( That's a famous amusement park for anyone besides Jennifer that may read my blog.) The park was the busiest I have seen it without being a holiday weekend.

Needless to say every women's bathroom was very busy and always had a line. I went to the restroom in two different parts of the park and waited in line. At least two women approached me while I was waiting in line with at least five to six women behind me and asked...... Is there a line for the bathroom?

Well the niceness in me smiled and said yeah but the smart sarcastic side of me was saying in my head... No I enjoy hanging out at bathrooms in amusement parks, I am bathroom patrol....and .....No, I am just trying to be first in line for the restrooms tomorrow when the park opens.

Please people use some common sense, if there are several women waiting in a line inside or outside the bathroom, there is a 99% chance there is a line. Just get in line and don't make people think that you don't have common sense.

Men in Speedos. OH MY!

Went to a water park today and let me say people wear the most outrageous things. I was there a few hours and was actually surprised that everyone was decent and nothing I had seen was obscene until...... I saw the old man... old as in over 60....in a little purple Speedo.

Words are not enough but the looks on the face of everyone he passed said it all.

I am at a loss for anymore explanation as to what was this man thinking.
